Which free tools help you get found online and see what works?

Six free tools worth knowing about
Each row links to the tool's own page. We read each one on the date shown in the Atlas and rate it for someone who sells something small online.
| Tool | What it does | Platform rules | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Search Console | Shows which searches bring people to your site, how often your pages appear and how often they are clicked. | Allowed | Use it |
| PageSpeed Insights | Tells you how fast a public page loads and how easy it is to use on a phone. | Allowed | Use it |
| Umami | Counts visits to your pages without cookies, and shows which link or post each visitor came from. | Allowed | Use it |
| GoatCounter | A very small visitor counter that uses no cookies. | Allowed | Use it |
| Shlink | Makes short links that count clicks, so you can see which post sent a visitor. You run it yourself. | Allowed | Use it |
| IndexNow | Tells search engines the moment a page of yours is added or changed. | Allowed | Use it |
Four we would skip, and why
A skip is often about a licence or a heavy setup, not about quality. The reason is in each entry.
Posting by driving a logged-in browser Skip it
Software that drives a signed-in browser breaks the terms of X, Reddit, Discord and Meta, which ban scripted logged-in sessions.
n8n Skip it
Its licence allows only internal business use or non-commercial sharing, so building a product to sell on it would breach the licence.
Remotion Skip it
It is free only for individuals, companies of up to 3 employees and non-profits, and its licence bars copying or modifying it to sell a derivative.
Product Hunt API Skip it
Its documentation says it must not be used commercially without contacting Product Hunt first.
How this fits with the rest
Tools do not bring visitors. They tell you whether the visitors you already get are finding the right page and buying. The free Tools Atlas page shows every name and verdict and ten full entries; the paid edition has all 86 in full with graded sources.

Questions
What free tools show how people find my website?
Google Search Console shows the searches that bring people to your pages. Umami and GoatCounter count visits to your pages.
Do I need paid software to sell digital products?
Not to start. Every tool in the table above is free to use, though a few have paid extras listed in their Atlas entries.
Which tools should I avoid?
The Atlas rates some as skip, mostly for licence or setup reasons. Driving a logged-in browser to post is rated skip because platforms ban it.
How current is the list?
Each entry shows the date it was read; the latest is 2026-10-09. Check the date before you rely on a tool.
- 86 entries: what it does, cost, licence, platform rules, a plain verdict
- At-a-glance table, plus the same data as CSV and JSON
