What YouTube's monetization policy says
“this includes content that is repetitive or mass-produced”
YouTube Help, channel monetization policies (latest dated entry 2025-07-15), page read 2026-10-09.
“This type of content has always been ineligible for monetization under our existing policies”
YouTube Help, channel monetization policies, page read 2026-10-09.
“If you use automated tools or templates to help create your content, the final product must still demonstrate your creative vision”
YouTube Help, channel monetization policies, page read 2026-10-09.
The same page says YouTube renamed the policy from “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” in July 2025. Our reading: AI is a tool the policy allows, and bulk output with little of your own work in it is what the rule describes.
What you must disclose
“we require creators to disclose when they use AI to meaningfully alter or generate photorealistic content.”
YouTube Help, disclosing use of altered or synthetic content, page read 2026-10-09.
The page lists four cases: content that makes a real person appear to say or do something they did not do; alters footage of a real event or place; generates a realistic scene that did not occur; or creates music that is the main focus of the video.
“Creators don’t need to disclose non-realistic content that’s made with AI, or edits to realistic content that are minor.”
YouTube Help, disclosing use of altered or synthetic content, page read 2026-10-09.
“Creators who consistently choose not to disclose this information may be subject to manual application of a label, or penalties from YouTube, including removal of content”
YouTube Help, disclosing use of altered or synthetic content, page read 2026-10-09.
What we could not check
A monetization-services firm says YouTube removed channels with about 35 million subscribers and 4.7 billion lifetime views in January 2026, worth an estimated $10 million a year. It gives no source for those totals. The same page reports a Partner Program rewrite announced on August 10, 2026; we could not check its thresholds against YouTube's own post. We therefore do not use those totals.
Money
We found no dated record of what a new faceless AI channel earns, so this page is about the rules and not about income. Our rating for the way is on the pages below.

Questions
Does YouTube allow monetizing AI-generated videos?
YouTube does not ban AI as such. Its policy makes content that is repetitive or mass-produced ineligible, and asks that automated tools or templates still show your creative vision.
Do I have to label AI content on YouTube?
Only realistic content: YouTube requires disclosure when AI meaningfully alters or generates photorealistic content. Non-realistic AI content and minor edits need no label.
What is inauthentic content on YouTube?
The name YouTube gave on 2025-07-15 to what it used to call repetitious content: content that is repetitive or mass-produced.
Can a faceless AI YouTube channel earn money?
In the sources we opened none showed a dated record of what a newcomer earned. The policy rule on mass-produced content is the main risk for channels that publish templated videos at scale.
