Mass-produced AI short-video channels: why we say do not start
Do not start checked 2026-10-08
Post many AI-made short videos a day on YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram hoping some go viral and the platform pays.
What the evidence says about money
The evidence points against it. YouTube renamed its policy to 'inauthentic content' in July 2025 and says mass-produced or templated channels are ineligible; Meta penalizes accounts that repost or stitch together others' clips; TikTok Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers and original videos over a minute (secondary source). Even with 10 million Shorts views, Shorts RPM of about $0.07 to $0.20 per 1,000 views suggests roughly $700 to $2,000 per 90 days gross, and that bar is moving up.
How sure are we: Backed by a secondary source such as press or a review site.

The rules where it happens
- YouTube Shorts: Do not automate this. Inauthentic content policy (effective 15 July 2025): repetitive or mass-produced content, generic AI-template content and stitched-together AI clips without a clear narrative are ineligible; applies to the whole channel. Shorts revenue also requires 10 million Shorts views in 90 days from 1 February 2027. Source
- TikTok: Do not automate this. Community guidelines prohibit accounts operated in bulk or through unauthorized automation; realistic AI content must be clearly disclosed; the Content Posting API lists a tool for uploading to accounts you manage as not acceptable. Source
- Facebook and Instagram: Do not automate this. Meta (14 July 2025) penalizes accounts that repeatedly repost others' content without meaningful changes: loss of monetization access and reduced distribution. AI is not banned, but originality is required (secondary source). Source
What can go wrong
- Channel-level demonetization or removal from the Partner Program
- Reduced reach and loss of monetization on Facebook and Instagram
- Thresholds are rising for new YouTube applicants from 1 February 2027
- Courses selling this path usually show survivor stories rather than typical results
- Wasted money on tools and courses
How it hooks people
Volume feels like a strategy. YouTube now treats mass-produced channels as ineligible, and the policy applies to the whole channel.
Age, region and other limits
Minimum age 18. Creator program availability varies by country on each platform.
