What you are selling
Traffic that clicks affiliate links or sees ads. Ad networks only take sites with enough visitors.
What the evidence says about money
Evidence is discouraging for a beginner. Ahrefs found only 1.74% of newly published pages reached Google's top 10 within a year (6.11% in a filtered sample). Pew found people click a normal result in 8% of visits when Google shows an AI summary versus 15% when it does not. Premium ad networks need at least 25,000 monthly pageviews (Raptive), and mass AI-generated pages risk Google's spam policy. No reliable income data for beginners was found.
How sure are we: Backed by a secondary source such as press or a review site.
What only you can do, once
- Buy the domain and hosting in your name
- Apply to affiliate programs or AdSense yourself (18+) and accept their terms
- Provide real experience or testing for review content (what you actually tried), and check facts
A first week
| Day | What happens | Who | Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Choose a topic you can speak about from experience and 10 questions people ask about it | You | 20 |
| 2 | Buy a domain and start a site on a simple host | You | 30 |
| 3 | App drafts page 1 outline using your notes and sources | AI helper | 5 |
| 4 | Add your own photos, tests or examples to page 1 and fact-check it | You | 30 |
| 5 | Publish page 1 and submit the sitemap in Google Search Console | You | 15 |
| 7 | App checks indexing and lists the next 3 pages | AI helper | 5 |
The rules where it happens
- Google Search and AI features: You do it by hand inside the platform. Google allows generative AI to help but says generating many pages without adding value violates its scaled content abuse spam policy; affiliate pages that copy merchant descriptions are thin content. There are no extra requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond standard SEO; no special AI files needed. Source
- Google AdSense: You do it by hand inside the platform. Applicants must be 18+, have original high-quality content, comply with AdSense policies and be able to access the site's HTML source. Source
- Amazon Associates: You do it by hand inside the platform. Three qualifying sales within 180 days of applying; disclosure sentence required; product list pages need additional original content; standard commission mostly 4% (0% to 10%). Source
The hard part: where people quit
The moment: Months of nothing in search. Why: Only about 1.7% of new pages reach Google's top 10 within a year, and AI summaries now cut clicks. What helps: This path is for people who can wait. Your AI helper sets a review date and keeps it.
When to stop
If after 9 months and 40 helpful pages the site gets fewer than 500 Google visits a month or no affiliate sale, stop or change topic.
What can go wrong
- Most new pages never rank on page one
- AI summaries in search results reduce clicks to websites
- Auto-generated bulk content can trigger Google spam actions and ad network refusal
- Affiliate accounts can be closed (for example no sales in 180 days)
- Costs for domain and hosting are small but recurring
Age, region and other limits
Minimum age 18. AdSense and affiliate programs have country rules; premium ad networks want most traffic from the US, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand (Raptive: at least 50% for 25,000 to 99,999 pageviews).

- Search Engine Journal (Oct 2025): Raptive lowered its minimum to 25,000 monthly pageviews (from 100,000), with 50% of traffic from US/UK/CA/AU/NZ for sites under 100,000 pageviews. [S]
- AdSense eligibility: 18+, original high-quality content, policy compliance, access to site HTML. [P]
