YouTube: what the rules say
“this includes content that is repetitive or mass-produced”
YouTube Help, channel monetization policies, page read 2026-10-09.
“we require creators to disclose when they use AI to meaningfully alter or generate photorealistic content.”
YouTube Help, disclosing use of altered or synthetic content, page read 2026-10-09.
Our reading: AI is allowed as a tool, and bulk output with little of your own work in it is what the rule describes. Full detail on the YouTube rules page.
Newsletter platforms and what they keep

| beehiiv | Free plan: up to 2,500 subscribers; Share of paid subscriptions: 0% | 2026-10-08 |

What we could not check
A monetization-services firm says YouTube removed channels with about 35 million subscribers and 4.7 billion lifetime views in January 2026, worth an estimated $10 million a year. It gives no source for those totals. The same page reports a Partner Program rewrite announced on August 10, 2026; we could not check its thresholds against YouTube's own post. For newsletters we found no dated record of what a new niche newsletter earns either, so we make no income claim.
What decides the outcome
An audience. A channel or a newsletter has nothing to sell until people subscribe, and no guide can give you subscribers. That is why every recipe starts with a stop rule: how long you will give it, and what result means keep going.

Questions
Can I start a faceless YouTube channel with AI?
Yes, within YouTube's rules: repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible for monetization, and realistic AI content must be disclosed.
Substack or beehiiv, which keeps less?
On the pages we read, Substack takes 10% of paid subscriptions plus Stripe fees; beehiiv takes 0% of paid subscriptions and is free up to 2,500 subscribers.
Do I need to show my face to make videos or a newsletter?
No. Both can be done without showing your face; the platform rules above apply either way.
How much does a faceless channel earn?
We found no dated record of what a new one earns, so we do not give a figure.
